This Term we have been learning about plastic pollution and how it affects the environment. It destroys the oceans and the organisms that live in it.Through our topic Blue Abyss we have been interpreting data, analysing it and finding out the country in the world with the largest plastic pollution.
This term we have been looking at Information texts, Wikipedia and true and false information. We wrote our own texts, assessed them with our peers and up-levelled and improved them.
Our novel this term is Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe. We learnt how to write a story setting using powerful adjectives, similes, personification, adverbs and alliteration. We have written story settings based on Robinson's island and character descriptions of Robinson using the text for information. We have thought about his actions, thoughts and feelings to base our impression of him.
This term we have located Robinson's island and the oceans of the world. We have found capitals of countries and continents of the world and discovered the location of countries using longitude and latitude.
Victoria from The Size of Wales visited us to explain about plastic pollution, deforestation, global warming and looking after our planet in general. We learnt so much about different species and how global warming affects organisms.
We have worked closely with the Wildlife trust to help improve our village , conserve the area to help our wildlife and reduce plastic pollution in our village. We are now holding a competition after a walk around our village to design posters to heighten awareness about plastic and litter in our community and reduce the amount of dog mess. Hopefully, our posters will remind people to look after our village and also the planet.
