Autumn 1 2024
Well, what a busy few weeks it has been! Croeso nol! We have had the best time settling back into school life and welcoming new learners to our Penguin class! We have loved getting to know one another and making new friends! All the children have settled really well and are arriving at school with the biggest smiles!
We were so lucky to start the term off with a visit from Animal Cwtch ! They brought the cutest animals for us to hold and feed! We saw Tilly the hedgehog - who wasn't as spiky as you would think and Unicorn the one-eared giant rabbit! The children had a wonderful time and asked lots of excellent questions about where they live and what they eat!
We have been looking at where we live and what our houses look like! We learned that all our houses look different. The children have been exploring what shapes they can see and what properties certain shapes have! We built houses from bricks, 2d shapes and lollipop sticks - the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves!
We have been immersed in improving our fine motor skills this half - term, building up the muscles in our hands ready to hold pens and pencils! We love our daily disco dough and ribbon rhumba! It certainly wakes us up each morning! It's exciting to see the children becoming more independent in their writing skills following their own interest and passions.
We love Autumn! We have enjoyed seeing the autumn creep in and witnessing the changes in our woodland. We have noticed the changes in the colours of the leaves and trees, how many leaves are no longer on trees and the changes in the weather! Exploring outside is one of our favourite things to do! It encourages confident, independent learners!
Harvest Time!! We have learnt so much about harvesting and what it means! We have been learning about what the farmers do during harvest time and how hard they work! We learnt what vegetables farmers grow and decided to try some of them! We decided to prepare a vegetable soup where the children cut lots of vegetables ready to boil. We ate the soup got our snack the next day - it was delicious! Yum!
