🏴󠁧󠁒󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿A Warm Welsh Welcome! 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming our friends from Sant’Anna Arresi Primary School in Sardinia for their first visit, accompanied by our Governor, Sarah Hopkins. It was a fantastic opportunity to share a taste of Welsh culture and strengthen our international connections.

We’re also thrilled to be embarking on the Thread of Peace project alongside our partner schools in Normandy, Tunisia, and Sardinia. This exciting collaboration will help our pupils explore global connections, cultural exchange, and the values of peace and unity. Looking forward to the journey ahead! 🌍✨

British Science Week 2025

We have been taking part in lots of fun activities this week to celebrate British Science Week and the theme ‘Change and Adapt’.  We took part in computer science lessons, delivered by Technocamps, to develop our coding skills and have been exploring a range of science themes using VR Headsets! There has been an abundance of science activities taking place in classes from delivery of an incubator and eggs,  making Wormeries, creating new animals with different adaptions for their habitat, learning about how viruses spread and antigens and antibodies and so much more!

Celebrating Sporting Success!

This week, we’re proud to celebrate the achievements of our boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams, as well as our mixed rugby team.

Our Year 5 and Year 6 mixed rugby team took part in a series of friendly matches, demonstrating fantastic teamwork, skill, and sportsmanship. Their enthusiasm and determination were truly inspiring!A special thank you to Mr. Wooliscroft for his support and for stepping in as referee for some of the matches—it was greatly appreciated.

Well done to all our athletes for their hard work and dedication!

Nursery Open Morning

We are thrilled to invite new parents to our Nursery Open Morning on Thursday, 8th May at 9:30am!

New parents will see our warm, welcoming, and engaging learning environment, where children thrive from their very first steps in education. Estyn has praised our school for excellence, and we are proud to offer an outstanding start to a child’s learning journey.

We welcome younger siblings of our current families, as well as new parents, grandparents, and friends—everyone is invited to come and see what makes our school so special!

Urdd

We are excited that some of our learners will be representing the school in the first round of the Urdd competition.  We have two of our Yr 1's who have learnt a Welsh poem and will be reciting this on their own, on  stage on Tuesday - we are so proud of you Hari and Gwen!  We also have a group of our junior children who have worked hard with Mrs Thomas and Miss Short on a group poetry recital and a disco dance, these children will be performing to judges next Friday.  In addition to the recitals and the poets we have two musicians who will also be representing the school this spring term with a piano recital and a drumming set. We are so proud of you all! The Urdd is a National Voluntary Youth Organisation and champions children to make positive contributions to their community through the medium of Welsh - we really are proud of our members! Pob Lwc blant!

Friends of Penclawdd fundraising for our School

From now until March 31st Penclawdd Primary School is one of the 3 charities you can vote for with Tesco blue tokens πŸ”΅

If we get the most votes, we get £1500 for the school, 2nd place £1000 and 3rd £500.

We are fundraising to be able to have some new thermoplastic playground markings to promote outdoor play and learning, whilst encouraging children to be active at the same time.

There are 10 stores around Swansea with the school as an option. Fforestfach and Gowerton are two of them. Please see our Facebook page for more information.

Please pass the message to all friends and family. It would be amazing if the school were to receive the full £1500.
