HT Weekly News

September 20th 2024

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have enjoyed a lovely week with plenty of sunshine. This has been a good opportunity for our outdoor learning and many classes have visited 'The Forest'.

Urdd

We welcomed Jo from 'Shine Drama Workshop' to share a wonderful Welsh Assembly.  Jo told us the Welsh tale of how the Welsh flag came to have a dragon on it.  We invited our Cluster schools to bring members of their Criw so that our schools can go back and share the learning with our learners.  Jo told us the tale of the White dragon and the Red dragon - we heard all about the honey mead that was made to entice the dragons back from the sky - the children were enthralled.  This was such a rich learning experience for our learners.  We also welcomed Welsh Co-Ordinators from Swansea City Council and they enjoyed sitting in on a brainstorming session with all Criw's.  We cannot wait to share the learning in our next visit to another school.

National Fitness Day

National Fitness Day was the perfect day to host our Autumn Sports day in Y3 - 6.  The sun shone and we were able to highlight the important role that physical activity plays in helping us lead a healthier lifestyle.  We also discussed the importance of physical activity and how it helps us stay mentally healthy.  Lots of house points scored and lots of fun too!

GREAT NEWS!  THE BOOK FAIR IS BACK!

The book fair will be in school next week.

Monday - The children will have the opportunity to browse the books with their class.

Tues - Thurs - The children can bring money into school to buy a book during the school day or if you'd prefer to browse the books with your child, the book fair will be open straight from school Tues - Thurs.

All books purchased will earn rewards for our school which we can use to buy new books for our class libraries.

Many thanks for your continuing support.

Community News

BIG Thanks to Crofty garden 🪴 centre ❤️

Many of our classes were so fortunate in summer term to receive generous donations of plants and soil from our local garden centre.

In early summer classes were busy planting tomatoes and leeks and looked after them diligently during the term. This week our youngest learners have been harvesting their crops. We have had some amazing leeks and tomatoes. Our sealions made delicious leek and potato soup and our flamingos enjoyed their juicy tomatoes. 🍅
